Technology Interacting with Generations

As technology becomes a bigger part of peoples everyday lives, there seems to be a larger gap developing between each generation. ( http://www.christianpost.com/article/20090226/survey-understanding-how-different-generations-use-technology/index.html ) The baby boomer generation seems to constantly be playing catch up to the technology that is being developed everyday. Most of them know what a computer is and how to check their email but unless they are currently working in a position that requires them to use technology on a daily basis, they are falling behind the times with little or no desire to learn and lessen the gap. There are always those few individuals who want to stay in the loop and keep current, constantly asking their grandchildren how to do this or do that with an I-Pod or computer. If not for the willingness of the younger generation, there would be no way to fix this gap that has formed. The x-generation seems to be much more in tune with technology. They know how to use much of it and some of the lingo that goes along with it (mega-byte, MP3, texting...) It isn't quit second nature to them but they can pick it up easier then the baby boomers and don't need the "hand holding" training that the baby boomer generation seems to need. Some interact much deeper with technology, writing blogs and posting video blogs for both personal and professional use, while others wouldn't even know the first step to creating either. Then there is the y-generation. This generation has grown up using technology, most on a daily basis. It is second nature to them and if you give them most any kind of technology, it will only take them 5-10 minutes to figure out how to use it. In many cases, the baby boomers or x-generation would say they are addicted to technology. We have it on our cell phones and are constantly on them checking what our favorite stars are currently up to on their blogs or what our friends latest status update is on Facebook. The y-generation and technology can not be separated; they have been raised on it and it is too much en laced in everything that they do. ( http://www.avuetech.com/young-workforce-will-affect-technology-workplace ) Technology is quickly evolving and adapting to every need in all aspects of the world. From right here in Washington to the small poverty stricken countries of Africa, everyone is using technology and becoming more and more dependent on it. No matter your age or your career path, technology is a part of it or is moving into it. It is not something that you can avoid.
